Don’t get your hopes up too high, but a “remake” of the classic RPG Final Fantasy VII is in the works.
We’re putting “remake” in quotes because it is not a completely overhauled, high-definition re-imagining of the title. Rather, it is essentially the same experience but with a few 21st century features thrown in.
The most significant in terms of changing the gameplay and player progression is something Square Enix calls “Character Booster.”
It basically just lets players coast through the game with increased levels of HP, MP, and money (Gil). In addition to that, players will be able to store their save files to the cloud and also unlock achievements.
Aside from that, it is the exact same game as the title that launched on the original Playstation so many years ago.
Final Fantasy VII became renowned as one of the greatest RPGs of all time, and remains a cult classic among the Final Fantasy fanatics.
Some fans think the hype and monumental praise is excessive, but like it or not, it is one of the most popular games of all time.
As a result, gamers have been hoping for a remake for years. Especially with the introduction of the PS3 and HD gaming, fans have been clamoring for a graphically overhauled version of the game.
Unfortunately, Square Enix has gone on record numerous times to say that isn’t going to happen. The company has re-released the title through digital download on the PS3, but with no significant enhancements.
