Universal Pictures has posted a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming fantasy adventure film Snow White and the Huntsman.
This clip opens with the fliming of an epic battle scene, which seems as good a place as any to begin. The hero and villain armies clash amid a flaming dark forest, with the resulting footage captured by trucks and helicopters. The piece is introduced by Chris Hemsworth, who plays the titular huntsman.
Apparently, Universal plans to release several such featurettes on its Facebook page over the coming weeks. Likely they are small segments of what will become a longer behind-the-scenes feature on the eventual home video version of the film.

I’ll be honest – I was not expecting this to be the Snow White adaptation I’d be looking forward to seeing. When they both first appeared, Relativity Media’s Mirror, Mirror with Lily Collins seemed the more compelling, but not only has that one shown itself to be a goofy, schticky parody film, it seems even Relativity has given up on it, since we’ve seen very little in the way of promotions, despite the fact that Mirror starts playing this weekend.
The official synopsis of Snow White and the Huntsman is thus:
In the epic action-adventure “Snow White and the Huntsman,” Kristen Stewart (“Twilight”) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, “Thor”) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
Snow White and the Huntsman, which also stars Sam Claflin, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Graham, Ray Winstone, and Lily Cole, hits theaters on June 1, 2012.
