A teaser for Syfy’s upcoming speculative fiction serial Blood and Chrome has appeared online, though it’s unclear if it was in Syfy’s plan to have it out at this juncture.
The show – we’re still not sure if it’s going to be a TV movie or a web-series, as we’ve heard both plans – serves as a prequel to the events of the Battlestar Galactica series.
This teaser, set to some recognizable and dramatic music mostly gives us a look at some of the special effects for the series. It’s clear that a lot of attention is being paid to the technology in the story world, and we’ll get to see lots of very cool hi-tech stuff, which was lost to the characters of Battlestar Galactica for the duration of the series – the whole reason Galactica survived the initial attack was because it did not have all the latest gadgets on board.
Unlike Caprica, Blood and Chrome covers the events more directly responsible for the fall depicted in the first episodes of the main series, following William Adama earlier in his career as a Viper pilot for the colonies.
The show will have some definite thematic differences to anything BSG so far, as the characters are actively at war with the Cylons, and we know that no human-disguised robots will be making an appearance.
All we have for the plot so far is that Adama will be assigned to a secret mission which has him escorting a VIP across enemy territory to possibly turn the tide of the war.
No word on when Blood and Chrome will begin, or even what form it will take at this point.
