There is yet another $300 phone on sale from Verizon, and this one carries Google’s prestigious “Nexus” name.
The Galaxy Nexus is the latest in the line of phones specifically designed by Google and treated as the anchors for Android.
Priced at $300, it continues a growing trend for Verzion as it defines itself as the provider of the highest-end Android phones available. The Thunderbolt, Droid Razr, and Galaxy Nexus are all priced higher than the industry standard of $200.
The Galaxy Nexus is also the flagship Ice Cream Sandwich-powered phone, offering the latest version of Android on a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display. The phone, manufactured by Samsung, also includes a 5-megapixel camera and runs on Verizon’s 4G LTE network.
Under the hood is a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and 1 GB of RAM. The phone also features all the standard connections like Bluetooth, micro USB, micro SD, etc.
It is the first Nexus device to have LTE connectivity. In other words, it is the top dog for Verizon and for Android in general right now.
There’s been a lot of buzz about the Galaxy Nexus, but at $300 it will not appeal to the masses. You’ll need to be a die-hard Android fan to shell out that kind of money.
