The phone that will revive what used to be one of the coolest, hipped smartphone brands is expected to be unveiled later today.
A timer is currently counting down on Motorola Mobility’s main website and is set to expire at 3:00 PM Eastern Time. The widely believed idea is that at this time, Motorola will open up a pre-order page or at least reveal information about its newest Android phone.
The timer also corresponds with the timing of a media event in the US. Motorola promises the reveal will be for a “faster, thinner, smarter, stronger” phone.
Most believe this will be the unveiling of a new Razr phone, which would essentially bring new life to a product line that many considered dead after Android was introduced.
Expected to be called the Droid Razr, it looks like such a phone will fit in line with the brand’s heralded super-slick aesthetic.
According to reports, the phone will have a 4.5-inch display, dual-core 1.2 GHz processing power, 1 GB of RAM, and an 8 MP camera.
Some optimistic spectators think it’s possible the Droid Razr could also be a flagship phone for Google’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, which is conveniently timed to be unveiled at around the same time.
