Hackers force ISP password change

Some customers of Pacific Bell’s Internet service have been told they have less than a week of change their passwords after their accounts were possibly compromised by hackers.

Valeri Marks, president and CEO of Pacific Bell Internet Services, told subscribers that the hackers were taken into police custody, but not before they were able to gain access to password information of some California ISP users.

While the company said there is no indication of any account abuse, customers were told they would be required to change their passwords by January 14 or face being shut out of their accounts.
