New IBM technology doubles your memory

IBM has introduced a new technology that effectively doubles the amount of memory in a computer.

Called Memory eXpansion Technology, or MXT, the system employs a chip that acts as an intermediary between the computer’s processor and the memory, encoding data so that it takes up half the space, company officials said.

IBM will introduce the new technology in its Netfinity line of servers, and said it could also be used in desktop PCs and even handheld devices.
