Intel plans to put off the relaunch of its Pentium 3, recalled in part due to the testing expertise of Dr. Thomas Pabst, until after the launch of the Pentium 4 line next month. Despite reported manufacturing problems, the initial clock speeds have been raised from 1.3 and 1.4 GHz to 1.4 and 1.5 GHz, and the price has also been cut. An Intel executive also says that the P4 will not replace the P3 as the company’s major revenue source until 2002.
