Check out this wearable multitouch projector

If you think wearable tech is the way of the future, then this is for you.

Microsoft Research’s Hrvoje Benko has introduced what he called the Wearable Multitouch Projector. Yes, he hasn’t gotten the whole cool name thing down just yet, but don’t let that fool you when it comes to the awesomeness of the device.

Basically, the contraption is a Kinect camera that you wear on your shoulder. Via some wiring and other accessories to ensure the device can stay perched on you, it can display an interactive image on a nearby wall.

This means that you’ll have your arms and hands free to point to and interact with the projection. It doesn’t look really elegant but this is obviously just a prototype.

This is just an early look at what might be part of our everyday garb in the future. When you think about it, everything has been turned into high-tech, with the exception of clothing.

It’s the one thing we need every day that doesn’t have a power source, can’t display dynamic information, and has no means of external communication. That’s about to change, and we’re starting to see it with things like jackets that have internal wiring for phone charging and the like.

So while this particular contraption doesn’t look that practical, it’s indicative of what’s to come. That’s both awesome and a bit intimidating to think about, isn’t it?
