It’s really no surprise that the new Tron TV show will be putting a lot of focus on the vehicles.
Who could forget that great scene in the first film when the light cycle made a laser maze, and when another light cycle made its way through the fast twists and turns around the corners?
Man, that was so cool way back when, and it’s one of those segments from the film that burned into your mind forever.
So what would you pay for a real light cycle if one actually became available? Well, Collider tells us you can get a “street legal” light cycle for only $55,000. There’s footage of it on YouTube (see above), and specs include a Suzuki 996cc, 4 stroke engine, glow in the dark rims, six-speed manual transmission, spring loaded front and rear suspension, 3 ½ gallon gas tank, 1 ¼ gallon reserve gas tank, customized former truck tires, and more.
I assume Collider is quoting from an official press release about this, or maybe this is from the window sticker, but the report also tells us this particular light cycle has been “designed for casual cruising and slow ride-bys at shows, it is made form a steel frame covered by a fiberglass cowling that replicates the sleek look of its computer-generated imagery counterpart.”
Yes, the price is a bit steep, but it’s probably much less expensive than getting a Batmobile, and just imagine how cool you’ll look to all your geek brethren showing up to the next Comic Con or nerd event steering this thing. If this won’t score you the babe of your choice in the Princess Leia bikini, nothing will.
