When it comes to watching videos online, most people head to Google’s YouTube.
While many of the non-music videos on YouTube may be of questionable quality, Mountain View has been working to improve its online streaming platform by helping to code apps for various operating systems and devices, including game consoles.
Today, YouTube confirmed that a new app for the PS3 is available as a free download from the PlayStation Store in North America.
True, PS3 owners have been able to watch YouTube on the console for quite some time now, but the new app offers a slew of fresh features, as it is now designed for the big screen and PS3 controller.
For example, the latest iteration of the app boasts an improved search function that makes it easier for users to find the videos they want to watch. The app also supports subscribed channels and allows users to deploy their smartphone as a remote control.
Indeed, once the smartphone is linked, you can find video on your handset simply by hitting a button and streaming it on the big-screen. As the video plays on your big-screen, you can continue browsing YouTube on your phone for another clip.
The new YouTube app is currently available in the PlayStation Store under My Channels.
