Honestly, I’m not sure what to make of this gigantic 21.5-inch full HD resolution Android tablet designed by the Japanese-based Kouziro.
On the one hand, the gigantic screen would be fantastic for streaming video and playing games. Then again, the massive size of the device makes it more of a desktop computer than the classic portable tablet form factor most of us are familiar with.
The tablet has been officially dubbed the FT103 and its massive 21.5-inch screen makes it one of the biggest Android devices around. It runs 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and weighs in at a healthy 11 pounds. This really shouldn’t pose too much a problem, as the tablet has no battery and must be plugged into a wall.
Fortunately, it is also equipped with an integrated kickstand and HDMI input – allowing users to connect an external PC or game console to the big screen. In fact, the FT103 might be the perfect choice for a second desktop monitor – as it also allows you to play favorite Android games in their native environment.
The FT103 is powered by a TI OMAP 4428 processor and features 8 GB of storage. That’s a lot of storage, yet there’s no mention of a memory card slot for expansion, which could be a deal breaker for some users. The tablet does have two USB ports, along with an ethernet port and front camera. The tablet is expected to go on sale in Japan sometime this month for about $437. Would you buy one?
