Lexar just has announced a new range of Compact Flash (CF) and Secure Digital (SD) cards. The manufacturer now offers the largest capacity CF card holding eight GByte – enough space for almost 700 RAW images produced by 5-megapixel digital cameras. Lexar also announced a 1 GByte SD card which currently is also the largest capacity in the market. Both the CF as well as the SD line of Lexar received new high speed additions: A 80x CF card which Lexar claims to offer transfer speeds of up to 12 MByte/se and a 60x SD card with 9 MByte/s transfer speed. The cards will appear on shelves in May, according to Lexar. Pricing was not yet released.
