FCC asks high court to rule on broadband

The federal government is challenging an appeals court ruling that, officials fear, would stifle the expansion of cable broadband services by burdening the providers with new regulations.

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell says the appeal is in consumers’ interest: “A successful appeal of this case would ultimately mean lower prices and better service for American consumers.”
