Aver Media said that it will soon begin shipping of its TV tuner card, squeezed into the PCMCIA Express Card form factor. The new interface of the “TV Tuner 508” is able to almost double the usual I/O bandwidth and offers a “significant” gain in performance and video quality in data-intensive applications

The credit card-sized tuner card allows user to view TV in NTSC, PAL, and SECAM formats, enables real-time video recording in MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 formats and offers popular TV and VCR features, such as channel preview, scheduler, time-shift and image capture.

Aver Media said the device will be available shortly. Pricing has not been announced yet.
