Researcher says hacked data stored properly

A Connecticut researcher on leave at UC Berkeley said Friday she tried to follow all the rules when she stored a confidential database on a campus computer system that was broken into by a hacker.

The FBI and state agencies said they are still investigating the security breach, in which an unknown hacker found a way to access computer storage used by Candace Howes, an economics professor from Connecticut College in New London, Conn.
