PalmOne today reported that revenue in its fourth quarter of fiscal year 2005, ended June 3, totaled $335.8 million, up 26 percent from the year-ago period. Net income was $17.7 million. This compares to net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2004 of $13.3 million.
According to the company the Tungsten E and E2 handhelds achieved a 22 percent market share for PDAs in April and May. PalmOne also reported sales of 442,000 Treo smartphones, as compared to sales of only 282,000 in the third quarter and 126,000 in the fourth quarter of last year. The company did not comment on sales of its most recent model, the LifeDrive.
On a yearly basis, revenue for the fiscal year 2005 was $1.27 billion, up 34 percent from the $949.7 million reported in fiscal year 2004. Net income for fiscal year 2005 was $66.4 million compared with net loss of $21.8 million for fiscal year 2004. (THG)
