Is SMIC playing nice with Micron by cutting SDRAM capacity?

Although Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) was reportedly said to raise its SDRAM quotations before, industry sources now claim the China-based foundry might slash SDRAM capacity 70-80% starting in the third quarter, and market observers are suggesting the move may be politically motivated to help the company secure equipment for its new Fab 5 facility.
