Eight people have been charged with criminal copyright infringement in connection with a federal probe of Internet piracy groups that traffic in movies, games and software programs, the Justice Department said yesterday.
The indictments were announced by John C. Richter, acting assistant attorney general, and Gretchen C.F. Shappert, U.S. attorney for the western district of North Carolina, where the charges were brought.
