Oracle buys developer of VoIP applications

Oracle today announced that it has acquired HotSip, a Sweden-based developer of IP telephony applications. The database company said that “The addition of HotSip’s technology will allow Oracle to build on its leadership in middleware and in carrier-grade communications infrastructures.”

HotSip’s main product is the “Multimedia Communication Engine” (M2CE), which is a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application server for large organizations.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
