Justice Dept., states split on Microsoft's behavior

A group of states led by California and including Connecticut, Iowa and others, known as the California group, expressed concerns that letting conditions of the settlement expire in November may be premature. The group pointed out Thursday that earlier this year Microsoft released Vista, a new version of its Windows operating system. “Termination of the final judgment means … plaintiffs will not be able fully to assess the impact in the marketplace of Microsoft’s recent introduction of Vista.”
