Porn makers sue for breach of copyright

Seoul, South Korea – Pornography producers are suing thousands of South Korean web users for breach of copyright by uploading stolen content. Copyright infringements are punishable by jail terms in the country.

A Seoul  law firm representing a group of 50 US and Japanese porn producers has filed complaints against about 10,000 regular uploaders, claiming they can earn up to $25,000 a month from click throughs. Some 80 South Korean ISPs are also named in the charges, which seek financial damages in addition to criminal prosecution.

“Police will look into the case to see whether there was any breach of the law before deciding whether to initiate criminal probes against them,” a South Korean police spokesman  told AFP.
