CES 2009: Samsung announces SSD camcorder

Samsung announced its first SSD camcorder at CES. The HMX-H106 offers a storage capacity of up to 64 GB (there are also 16 GB and 32 GB versions). Other features include 1920×1080 pixel resolution support, a 37 mm wide angle lens as well as a 4.7 megapixel still camera.

The built-in SSDs are rated a read speeds of 100 MB/s and write speeds of 80 MB/s. The power consumption is about 0.44 watts under load, which about 20% of what a comparable 1.8” drive would consume.

Pricing was not announced.
