Armonk (NY) – IBM announced yesterday that they have signed a 7-year agreement with the Sara Lee Corporation to provide back office operations for the food and beverage giant. Sara Lee, a $13 billion per year food corporation employing 44,000 worldwide, will use IBM’s business tools to run their business and streamline operations.
IBM will provide accounting, procurement and operations business logic technology via a distributed worldwide network integrated with new software IBM and Sara Lee will work together to develop. The roll-out will be phased, occurring where applicable around the globe and in conjunction with local governmental requirements for a food company.
Sara Lee sells products under the brand names Ambi Pur, BallPark, Douwe Egberts, Hillshire Farm, Jimmy Dean, Kiwi, Sanex, Sara Lee and Senseo, with $13 billion in annual net sales in 200 countries. The 7-year agreement will expire in 2016.
