Foster City (CA) – Following an acquisition from satellite company Echostar, Sling Media is now expected to release a high definition version of its Slingbox device.
The Slingbox allows users to connect their TV connections to the Internet, enabling them to watch live and recorded content through a broadband connection anywhere in the world. There is also a mobile phone version of the software.
According to News.com, a new Slingbox is in the works that includes component video input, allowing the device to receive and transmit high definition content.
Sling Media was acquired this week by Echostar. While the company will still sell Slingbox devices independently, analysts expect it will also become a part of the satellite company’s service plans.
The new Slingbox is expected to be priced at around $180.
