Intel sells some of its modular communications platform assets to Radisys

According on an agreement announced today, Radisys will acquire Intel’s business of ATCA compute and packet processing blades, ATCA chassis, and Chassis Management Hardware and Software Modules, AMC module as well as cPCI blades, cPCI chassis, and other legacy systems products. The purchase price is $25 million plus $6.75 million of inventory.

Intel said that the sale of the business is a result of the company’s sharpened “focus on communications and embedded market segments that are aligned with [its] core businesses.” According to a statement released earlier today, the planned sale will not impact the Intel’s carrier-grade rack mount server product lines.
