Radio station sued for deadly Wii contest

Sacramentop (CA) – A deadly Nintendo Wii contest has now spawned a lawsuit against a Sacramento radio station. KDND-FM offered a free Nintendo Wii to whoever drank the most water without going to the bathroom. Contestant Jennifer Strange, a 28-year-old mother, died after drinking several bottles of waters.

Strange was found dead last Friday in her Rancho Cordova home several hours after drinking the water. She complained of a headache to her supervisors. The coroner’s office has determined that Strange died because of water intoxication. Drinking too much water can dilute electrolyte levels and cause cells to swell and eventually burst.

The radio station has since a total of 10 employees including all the DJs involved in the contest. Police are looking into the death and could press manslaughter charges.
