Dell enables wireless broadband on "most" notebooks

Dell today said that it will be offering the “Wireless 5700 Mobile Broadband Expresscard” as an option for all notebook computers that integrate an Expresscard slot. The card, which sells for $180, allows Dell customers to access Verizon’s EVDO wireless broadband service – and get higher-speed Internet connectivity without the need for a Wi-Fi hotspot nearby.

Buyers of the card receive 30 days of free access to the network. Verizon charges $60 per month after that and requires customers to sign up for a 2-year service contract.
