ECS cuts notebook shipment goal, but no change for mobos

Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) has reduced its notebook shipment goal for 2006 by one third to 1 million units because of weaker-than-expected demand, but its goal for motherboards remain unchanged at 30 million units for the year, according to company vice chairman Tung Chen Chiang. Chiang, who was chairman of ECS until a recent reshuffle of the company’s board of directors, indicated that motherboards will remain a chief revenue driver for ECS, but the company places high hope on desktop PCs to become its next big hit.
