Spansion may continue raising MCP prices in Q3

Despite announcing it will construct its first 12″ fab on memory production, tight supply of single-transistor pseudo-SRAM (1T PSRAM) and backend production capacity may stimulate Spansion, the largest NOR flash maker, will propose further price rises in the third quarter, according to industry sources.

Spansion was quoted in a recent Reutersreport as saying that it would invest US$1.2 billion to construct its first 12″ fab in northern Japan (Fukushima prefecture) with the fab having a monthly target capacity of 15,000-20,000 wafers.
