Apple releases slightly faster MacBook Pro models than promised

Cupertino (CA) – The 15″ MacBook Pro computers will be commencing shipments from Apple this week, the company announced today, including all the features that chairman Steve Jobs promised at MacWorld last month, but with a curious difference with its Intel Core Duo processor: It’s somewhat faster than Apple said it would be.

Apple’s two models in the 15″ form factor, priced at $1,999 and $2,499, will be shipped with 1.83 GHz and 2.0 GHz processors, respectively, instead of the 1.67 GHz and 1.83 GHz models the company displayed last month. Information from one source obtained by TG Daily indicates that early review units that shipped prior today, appear to contain the earlier, slower CPUs.

Shipments of the 20″ models will commence soon – perhaps even later this month – and although Apple gave no explicit notification today, users can probably expect faster CPUs there as well.
