ATI today announced a single-chip DVB-H-based mobile TV receiver for handheld devices such as cellphones. The WTV100-M chip combines a dual-band RF tuner (UHF for Europe and L-Band for the US), a DVB-T/DVB-H OFDM demodulator as well as “all necessary discretes” into one package.
ATI said that the WTV100-M will be shipping to customers in mid 2006. Samples and design kits are available now. First DVB-H services are expected to become available in the second half of this year in Europe; the US is expected to follow with a slight delay of a few months.
