NEC cuts 15,000 jobs, posts record loss

NEC Corp. will slash 15,000 jobs in a bid to heal its ailing U.S. personal computer subsidiary.

Japan’s largest chipmaker announced the cuts after posting the biggest loss in its history. NEC President Hisashi Kaneko will resign, taking responsibility for the company’s expected $1.25 billion consolidated net loss.
