M-Systems Flash Disk Pioneers Ltd. has introduced a new version of its FFD-250 Flash Disk with up to 1.3GB of bootable flash memory.
FFD-250 is a 2.5″ flash disk offered in an IDE and SCSI II interface. The new extended capacity allows longer recording time, along with highly ruggedized features.
The 2.5″ SCSI flash disk has burst read and write speeds of 9.7MBps, a sustained read speed of 3.6MBps and a sustained write speed of 3.4MBps. The IDE model offers burst read and write speeds of 16.7MBps, a sustained read speed of 3.5MBps and a sustained write speed of 2.4MBps.
The drive is not cheap: The 1.3GB version is priced at just under $5,000.
