TimesTen Performance Software has entered an agreement with Intel to develop an optimized version of the TimesTen in-memory database for Intel’s future IA-64 product family, beginning with Merced.
TimesTen will begin performance tuning for Windows NT on Intel’s IA-32 product family, including the Pentium III Xeon processor. TimesTen will then create and optimize a version of TimesTen 3.0 for Intel’s future Merced processor, making the database available in parallel with Merced production.
The TimesTen database completes standard relational database operations ten times faster than conventional databases, according to the company.
