HP cuts notebook prices

Hewlett-Packard Co. has reduced the prices on two models of its portable OmniBook notebook PCs.

The price for two configurations of the Omnibook 900 PC was lowered by as much as 17.5 percent. The larger price reduction is associated with a system featuring a 366MHz Pentium II processor, 6.4GB hard drive, 32MB of RAM and a 12.1″ SVGA display. This system is now selling for $2,899.

Another configuration of the Omnibook 900, consisting of a 300MHz Pentium II processor, 4.3GB hard drive, 32MB of RAM and a 12.1″ SVGA display, is selling for $2,399 That reflects a price reduction of about 5.3 percent.

Finally, an HP OmniBook 4150 notebook PC with a 300MHz Pentium II processor, 6.4GB hard drive, 64MB RAM, 14.1″ TFT display and a 24X CD-ROM drive, was also reduced in price by about 3.5 percent. The system now sells for $2,999.
