Compaq ships $1,799 Celeron-based notebook

Compaq Computer Corp. has announced its Armada 1500c notebook, equipped with the new 366MHz Intel Celeron. The company is also shipping a 333MHz Mobile Pentium II-based Armada 1750 Series. Both notebooks come with a 12.1″ color TFT screen, and are available immediately in North America.

The 1500c model includes a 4GB hard drive, 32MB of memory, a 24X CD-ROM drive, a 56K V.90 modem, and either Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 pre-installed.Prices start at $1,799 for the Windows 95 model.

The 1750 model includes a 4GB hard drive, 64MB of memory, a 24X CD-ROM drive, a 56K V.90 modem, and either Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 pre-installed. Prices for the 1750 start at $1,999.
