OPTi Inc. supplier Tritech Microelectronics Ltd. has petitioned a Singapore court to be placed under judicial management.
OPTi and Tritech recently were found to have violated three patents held by Crystal Semiconductor, a subsidiary of Cirrus Logic Inc. The patents relate to an audio codec. Opti says its agreement with Tritech completely indemnifies OPTi from any costs, claims, demands, expenses and liabilities in the case.
The High Court of Singapore will hear the judicial management petition on July 2, 1999. In the interim, the court has appointed three partners of Price Waterhouse Coopers, Singapore, to act as interim judicial managers of the Tritech.
OPTi anticipates that the judge will enter his decision about the extent of damages to be awarded to Crystal Semiconductor sometime in mid July.
