Sony says its new VAIO “All in One” F290 notebook computer is the first high performance notebook in the retail market to boast a 15″ XGA active matrix display.
The F290 is powered by a mobile Pentium II processor and comes with a 6.4GB hard drive, 128MB SDRAM, and a 4X DVD-ROM drive with DVD movie playback capability. Other features include a V.90 internal modem, a floppy disk drive, and built-in stereo speakers.
As with all F200 notebooks, the F290 has a 10BaseT Ethernet port and allows simultaneous use of two displays. It has an IEEE 1394 interface to allow easy video transfers to devices such as a camcorder. The notebook weighs less than seven pounds and is less than 1.6 inches thick.
The F290 notebook will begin shipping in July for about $3500. Details about Sony’s PC products are available at www.sony.com/pc.
