Sony Electronics has announced a retail first – a high performance notebook with a 15″ XGA active matrix display and DV motion editing capabilities.
The Sony VAIO “all in one” F290 notebook computer combines a 400MHz Pentium II processor with a 6.4GB hard drive and DVD movie playback, as well as full motion digital video editing.
The F290 has the largest active matrix LCD display available today in the retail market, according to the company, measuring 15 inches without an “overlip” commonly found on a standard corporate notebook.
The F290 is dual-battery capable, weighs less than 7 pounds and is less than 1.6 inches thick. The notebook also features Sony’s DVgate motion software and Adobe Premiere LE for easy video editing.
The F290 will begin shipping this month for about $3,500.
