Speculation is increasing that Apple’s long-expected consumer notebooks will debut this month at Macworld Expo.
It is believed the launch of P1 will coincide with Apple interim CEO Steve Jobs’ keynote speech at Macworld on July 21 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.
Industry analysts predict that the eagerly anticipated consumer notebook, also known as P1, will make a splash in the education market, and they speculate that a second, higher-powered model is already in the pipeline.
While Apple has said it is on track to ship the new portable computer for consumers sometime this year, it has yet to announce pricing, availability or specifications.
P1 is expected to weigh 3 to 4 pounds – less than currently shipping PowerBooks, but it still may be heavier than the Windows competition.
