First International Computer has announced that it will support the next-generation AMD Athlon processor.
The Taiwan-based PC and motherboard manufacturer says early testing of its 1stMainboard SD11 and AMD Athlon processor has produced spectacular benchmarks. Results indicate that users can expect phenomenal levels of performance for 3D Graphics applications, where the benchmarks are significantly better than anything else the industry currently has to offer, company officials said.
The FIC 1stMainboard SD11 supports the AMD Athlon processor at speeds of 500-600 MHz. With the AMD Athlon system bus, front side bus speeds effectively reach 200 MHz, company officials said.
The 1stMainboard SD11 is scheduled to ship in the third quarter of 1999. Additional information, including specifications and benchmarks, is available at the FIC Web site at www.fic.com.tw.
