Sharp Electronics has introduced the first 20″ LCD monitor to combine component video with PC capabilities, company officials said.
The SharpVision LC-20VM2U LCD AVC monitor is designed to handle full-motion video and PC graphics, offering contrast roughly twice that of CRT-based TVs.
Measuring 18.1″(W) X 15.9″(H) X 1.9″(D) and weighing 15.4 pounds, the monitor can be suspended from the ceiling or hung on the wall like a picture. It can also be viewed inside moving vehicles without the electromagnetic interference inherent in other systems, company officials said.
Along with composite and S-Video, the component video input makes it directly compatible with the output of professional/broadcast equipment, as well as DVD players and most DTV decoders.
The LC-20VM2U will be available in December 1999, at an estimated retail price of $5,999.
