Intel vindicated on appeal

An appeals court has ruled that Intel is not a monopolist, throwing out charges brought against the world’s leading chip maker by a disgruntled customer.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit overturned an injunction in Intergraph vs. Intel that effectively charged Intel with violations of the Sherman Antitrust Act.

The court agreed that Intel has a huge market share and did in fact cut off the flow of technology to Intergraph at crucial times, but went on to find that the company’s conduct did not constitute violations of antitrust law.
