Electronic Arts has cut a deal to become the exclusive supplier of games to customers of the America Online service.
The 5-year deal starts in April 2000 and guarantees AOL $81 million in return for advertising on AOL and exclusive access to AOL’s 19 million subscribers.
EA also said it would form an online games division that will create a Web site in late summer 2000 to allow consumers to play games online,. The company also agreed to buy the Kesmai gaming unit of media conglomerate News Corp., for $30 million in cash and stock.
