Microsoft has released the second beta of its next-generation consumer Windows desktop operating system, Millennium.
Millennium Beta 2, sent to a select group of testers, will allow computer makers to begin working on specific drivers for the upcoming OS. Beta 2 also sports the first implementation of Universal Plug and Play support and broader support for networking hardware, officials said.
A key focus in the Millennium edition is on the ability to easily connect several computers in the home.
Microsoft plans to release Millennium sometime next year.
