WorldNet back up after day-long outage

As many as 1.8 million customers were deprived of Internet access Wednesday as a massive network outage rumbled through the AT&T WorldNet service.

The outage began at about 5:15 a.m PT on the dial-up platform, and lasted almost 12 hours.

The interruption was caused by faulty Domain Naming System information being exchanged between AT&T’s network and the network of another Internet service provider, which AT&T has so far declined to identify.
