Intel has announced the first chip to make full use of the company’s new Coppermine process, an 800MHz Xeon for workstations and servers.
Equipped with 256K of on-chip cache, the chip is designed for dual-processor configurations.
Existing Xeon products for 4-, 8-, 16-, and 64-way systems use up to 2MB of discrete Level 2 cache.
The chip is in full production now.
