The top-secret U.S. National Security Agency confirms it had a “serious computer problem” last week that affected its ability to process intelligence information.

Sources for ABC News called it the biggest computer failure in the history of the NSA.

The agency said the problem lasted 72 hours. One unnamed official said there was “no evidence of malice” or a Y2K problem.

The NSA specializes in electronic intelligence gathering through satellites, telephone intercepts and other methods.
