Drivers addicted to their cell phones will soon be able to keep both hands on the wheel, thanks to new technology developed by Cellport Systems.
The Cellport 3000 offers voice recognition technology and a hands-free, hidden microphone, with the sound channeled through the car’s speakers.
The system, which can be used with the customer’s existing cellphone, also accepts voice commands to roll down car windows or turn on the radio.
While some of this technology is already on the market, the Boulder, Colo.-based company said its innovation offers better sound quality and fewer dropped calls due to an exterior antenna.
The system will be available this summer, at a cost of $400 to $700.
